Article Eight: Election and Voting
The Public Affairs Representative, through the Fort Leonard Wood Paper and other public forums, will announce elections no later than one (1) month prior to the election meeting. The Secretary will notify each member.
The Executive Council will be elected and installed annually. The election will be by nomination and a second of that nomination. Members present at the election will then vote on those nominations. Candidates wishing to run for office but who will not be present at the election meeting will submit written notification to the Secretary.
Elections will be held every year in the month of March and officers will begin their terms the following month (April). An appointment to an office is authorized at the discretion of the President to fill an opening on the Executive Council.
If the President vacates office during his/her term, the Vice-President shall assume the duties of the President for the remainder of the term. If any other officer vacates their office during a term, a special election will be held at the next regularly schedule meeting of the SAMC MFLWC. The candidate, who receives a majority vote from the voting membership present, will fill the office. The office will be held throughout the remainder of the term.
The Executive Council may suspend elections of the SAMC MFLWC, fill any vacancy or extend any term during time of declaration of war by the Congress of the United States during national emergencies proclaimed by the President of the United States. Such suspensions shall not exceed one (1) year following the termination of war or national emergency.
